Have you noticed that your newly posted ads are disappearing or being automatically removed? Don’t worry—your account isn’t in trouble! This usually happens because our system has flagged the new post as a duplicate of an ad you already have active.
To keep the marketplace fair, clean, and easy to browse for everyone, Kijiji does not allow multiple active listings for the same item or service.
The Golden Rule: “Delete Before You Repost”
If you want to update, refresh, or bump your ad to the top of the search results by creating a new listing, you must follow one simple step first:
Always completely delete your older ad before creating the new one.
If you try to post a new ad that uses the same photos, title, or description while the old one is still live, our automated filters will immediately identify it as a copy and remove it.
How to Refresh Your Ad Successfully
If you want to repost an item to get more visibility, follow these quick steps:
-
Log into your account and go to My Ads.
-
Find the older version of the listing you want to replace.
-
Click Delete on that old ad.
-
Once the old ad is gone, click Post Ad to create your fresh, new listing!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why does Kijiji have this rule?
We put this policy in place to protect the experience of both buyers and sellers. Without duplicate filters, the search results would get cluttered with hundreds of identical ads from the same sellers. This makes it hard for buyers to find what they want and unfair to other sellers trying to get their items seen.
Can I just change a few words or use a different photo?
Our automated filters look at multiple details, including titles, descriptions, categories, and images. If the system recognizes that you are selling the exact same item in a live ad, it will still be flagged. The safest and fastest method is always to delete the old ad first.
