Story received from Samantha S.
A few years ago, I was helping my grandparents clean out their basement and we came across this old bright orange rotary phone from the 1970s. It was heavy, dusty, and honestly looked like it belonged in a museum. It didn’t even work anymore, but my grandma didn’t want to throw it out because she said someone might appreciate it.
So, just for fun, I put it on Kijiji for $50 with a few pictures.
Turns out, I was completely wrong. Within a couple of hours, I had several messages. One person wanted it for a movie prop, another wanted it for a restaurant decoration, and someone else said it was exactly what they needed for their retro apartment.
The person who bought it showed up, picked it up, and immediately started laughing. They said, “I’ve been looking everywhere for something like this!”
My grandma was so happy knowing that her old phone found a new home instead of ending up in the garbage.
It’s funny how the things we think are useless sometimes become someone else’s favourite find.
I don’t have the original photo but I found another one exactly like it, online.
