I was contacted by buyers claiming to be interested in what I have for sale, a pop-up tent. The first one asked, right from the start, to contact them via text message on their phone. She asked to come visit on a Friday morning. I gave her another option, which she accepted, and then I provided my address. She replied asking for my phone number again, supposedly to contact me when she was very close by. I confirmed on the day of the visit itself. She replied that their plans had changed and they decided to go with another seller. The response was in English, whereas all other communications had been in French. The user’s name is “Louise”, 9 years on Kijiji. No comments or statistics on their profile.
The other user, “Manon”, contacted me the day after the first one, asking for a visit on the same day as the first user. She didn’t ask any questions about my pop-up tent, but only asked for my address. I asked her what time she wanted to come. No response. The user has been on Kijiji for 7 years and has no statistics or comments on their profile.
I suspect that both users are operated by the same person(s). They are trying to obtain personal information for future fraud/identity theft.
