What does the Kijiji verification badge mean?
The badge means a user has completed identity verification with Interac Verified solutions, helping show there’s a real person behind the profile. It does not guarantee the safety or security of a transaction. Think of it as an extra layer of confidence on top of ratings and reviews.
Does this mean the seller is 100% trustworthy?
Verification does not guarantee the safety or security of a transaction. Interac Verified solutions help verify a user’s identity through either a participating financial institution (Interac verification service) or using accepted governmentissued identification and a live selfie (Interac document service) but it’s still important to follow smart buying and selling practices whether someone is verified or not.
What information gets verified?
Interac Verified solutions help confirm key identity details, such as a user’s name and other information needed to verify identity, depending on the verification method used.
Is my banking information shared with Kijiji?
Absolutely not. If you choose verification through a participating financial institution, your banking information stays with your financial institution and is never shared with Kijiji. Kijiji only receives confirmation that verification was successful.
How do I get verified?
You can verify your identity using one of the verification options available through Interac Verified on Kijiji. You can verify through a participating financial institution using your online banking credentials or by taking a photo of an accepted government-issued ID and completing a liveness check.
How long does verification last?
Your verified status stays active unless there are major changes to your account or unusual activity that requires re-verification. From time to time, Kijiji may also ask users to verify again to help keep profiles current.
Why don’t all users have the badge?
Verification is optional right now, so only users who complete a verification using an available Interac Verified verification method will have the badge.
Can a verified user still be a scammer?
Verification helps make it harder for bad actors to stay anonymous, but no system removes every risk. Verification does not guarantee the safety or security of a transaction. Always trust your instincts, use safe payment and meetup practices, and report anything suspicious to Kijiji.
Is there a cost to get verified?
Nope. Getting verified is completely free.

What happens if a verified user breaks the rules?
Being verified doesn’t give anyone a free pass. Users who do not comply with Kijiji’s terms of use can lose their badge, have their account suspended, or both.

Interac verification service is currently only available through participating financial institutions.
What is Interac document verification service?
Interac document verification service helps verify identity using an accepted government-issued ID and a liveness check. This provides another secure way for Kijiji users to verify their identity.
What is a liveness check?
Users complete a biometric liveness check by taking a motion selfie. This helps confirm that the person completing verification is physically present during the verification process, adding another layer of confidence to identity verification.
