How to Change the Email Address on Your Kijiji Account

You can update the email address associated with your Kijiji account through Kijiji.ca or the Kijiji app.

After updating your email address, you’ll need to verify the new address before the change is completed.

Before You Begin

Please note:

  • The new email address must not have been previously used to post on Kijiji.

  • You must have access to the new email address in order to complete the verification process.

  • Changes are not finalized until the new email address has been confirmed.

  • These instructions apply to standard Kijiji accounts only. Subscription (Professional/Dealer) accounts may have a different process for updating account information.

Change Your Email Address on Kijiji.ca (web)

  1. Sign in to the Kijiji account you want to update.

  2. Open the Navigation Menu (your profile photo, person icon, or K icon).

  3. Select Account Settings.

  4. Enter your new email address in the Email Address field.

  5. Enter your password.

  6. Click Save Changes.

Verify Your New Email Address

After saving your changes:

  1. Check your new email inbox.

  2. Open the verification email from Kijiji.

  3. Click the confirmation link to complete the update.

If you don’t receive the email within approximately 10 minutes, check your spam, junk, or promotions folders.

Change Your Email Address in the Kijiji App

  1. Sign in to the Kijiji account you want to update.

  2. Tap Profile.

  3. Select Personal Details.

  4. Enter your new email address.

  5. Tap Save Changes.

You may be asked to verify the new email address before the update is completed.

Why Do I Need to Verify My Email Address?

Email verification helps protect your account and ensures that important account notifications, messages, and security communications are sent to the correct address.

Can’t Use Your New Email Address?

Kijiji does not allow email addresses that have previously been used to post on the platform to be reassigned to another account.

If you receive an error when updating your email address, try using a different email address that has not previously been associated with a Kijiji account.

IMPORTANT

Kijiji is directing the verification step to the destination email address for mainly two reasons:

  1. Inbox Verification: It guarantees that the user actually owns, has access to, and has correctly spelled the new email address before any changes are finalized in our database.

  2. Fraud Prevention: It stops malicious actors who may have gained unauthorized access to an account from instantly changing the email to their own without the platform verifying the destination inbox first.
