Hello, fake buyer trying to send false e-transfer link. And would like to report.
I blocked the person in my chat. User name was Vincent Pelletier. I told him that I did not get the email for the e-transfer and he told me to check my Junk mail. Sellers need to make sure the Interact link sent from possible buyers is not a fake link.
Thank you for bringing this incident to our attention Craig, I will send you a DM, so you can provide me further details regarding the possible fraudulent reply that you received.
I just had the same experience. The person emailed a fake etransfer. Why is Kijiji making my phone number a default? This should be changed and is NOT safe. This scam artist contacted me via my phone number which I had not posted intentionally. I can only provide their phone numbers and email addresses but not fake Kijiji accounts.

I’m pretty good at catching things like this…however I was caught a bit off guard. Didn’t expect this to happen when posting to sell something here.
I am sorry to hear you may have received a scam reply to your posting through SMS Amrita, we certainly would like to investigate this incident. I will send you a DM, so you can provide me all the details regarding the scammer.
A fake buyer by the name of Luba Goy attempted to scam me by first replying to the ad and then texting me a questionable/suspect request. I called the scammer out by insisting they call me, which they would not. When I tried to call the number (1-581-701-5801) they were texting me from, it of course is a number with nobody on the other end.
Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention right away, we certainly would like to investigate the scam reply that you received and take the proper actions. I have gone ahead and sent you a DM, so you can provide me further details of the incident.

Thank you for bringing this up to us Alex. I am sorry to hear you were targeted by a malicious user. I can definitely confirm the description is well known scam trend that has been appearing just recently. Has the scammer provided you with an email address or perhaps a PayPal email they have offered you?
I’m not to hip on the tech scene and way to trusting with the ppl scene, and that’s why I don’t have the etransfer and don’t do shipping. I prefer to keep my private and personal information to myself
As soon as I post an ad, often less than 10 minutes later, I receive a text message saying that the person can’t meet up and will send me an Interac e-Transfer. This happens every time I list an item for sale. It’s never the same phone number, since I block them. But the message is often the same or varies slightly, yet it’s always along the same lines. They claim they’re interested but can’t meet in person. There must be some algorithm somewhere that lets these scammers know about all new listings. It’s impossible for them to respond that quickly every time. And it’s a scam. Fortunately, the first time around, my bank sent me a warning message.
