# Get Answers to Your Kijiji Questions
The Kijiji Community forums now include Discourse AI, a powerful built-in tool that lets you chat directly with the KJ AI to find answers without needing to create a public thread.
The AI reads all public posts on that specific forum, meaning it can summarize long discussions, find exact troubleshooting steps, or explain site rules instantly.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to open a chat and talk with the forum’s AI assistant.
Step 1: Open the AI “Chat” Interface
Step 2: Start a Conversation
Once you open the chat pane or navigate to the AI section:
Step 3: Type Your Question and Send
Type your question naturally, just like you would to a human. For the best results, mention specific keywords related to the forum’s niche.
-
Example: “What are some tips for buying and selling safely?”
-
Example: “I can’t find my ad?”
Press Enter or click the send arrow. The AI will scan the forum database and reply to you in real-time right within the chat window.
# How to Ask a Question in the Kijiji Community:
Step 1: Navigate to the Home Page or a Category
Before posting, it is best practice to navigate to the specific Category (e.g., General Discussion, Tech Support) where your post fits best. This keeps the forum organized.
Step 2: Click the “New Topic” Button
Look toward the top-right corner of the forum interface, just below the main navigation bar. You will see a button labeled + New Topic.
Note: If you don’t see this button, make sure you are logged in. Some forums also require you to read a few posts before you gain permission to create a new topic (this is part of Discourse’s automatic “Trust Level” system).
Step 3: Enter Your Title and Select a Category
Once you click the button, a composer window will slide up from the bottom of your screen.
-
Type a clear title: Make it descriptive so other users know exactly what your post is about.
-
Select/Confirm the Category: Click the category dropdown menu to place your post in the right section.
-
Add Tags (Optional): If the forum uses tags, you can add keywords to help people find your post.
Step 4: Write Your Post
Type your message into the large text box on the left side of the composer.
-
The Left Pane is where you type and format your text.
-
The Right Pane is a live preview. It shows exactly what your post will look like to everyone else once published.
You can use the toolbar at the top of the text box to bold text, insert links, add bullet points, or upload images.
Step 5: Click “Create Topic”
Once you are happy with how your post looks in the live preview pane, simply click the blue Create Topic button at the bottom-left of the composer.
Your topic is now live, and other community members can begin replying to it!
# How to Respond to a Question:
Step 1: Open the Topic and Choose How to Reply
When you are reading a discussion thread, you have two ways to respond depending on who you want to answer:
- To reply to the whole conversation: Scroll to the very bottom of the page and click the large blue
Replybutton.
- To reply to a specific person: Click the smaller grey
Replybutton located directly at the bottom-right of that specific user’s post. This links your answer directly to theirs. Note: for level one, new users this option might be hiden/not available.
Step 2: Write Your Response in the Composer
Clicking reply will open the post composer at the bottom of your screen.
-
Quote someone (Optional): If you want to quote a specific sentence from another user, highlight their text with your mouse. A
Quotebutton will pop up over the text. Click it, and it will instantly drop that text into your composer box. -
Draft your reply: Type your answer in the left pane. Keep an eye on the right pane to preview how your links, formatting, or bullet points will look.
Step 3: Click “Reply” to Publish
Once you are done typing and checking your live preview, click the blue Reply button at the bottom-left of the composer window to post your response live.
