If You Cannot Post Kijiji Listings

Hi @Nirav_Patel

Just sent you a private message with more information on your account

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us

@Rob @Hassan

Can’t post an ad via App or Browser. I am not using a VPN. I tried different locations as well. In the app it says “Something went wrong. We were not able to update this listing. Please try again.”

Hi @Tyler_Reid

Thank you for reaching out to us. We understand how frustrating it is to have your account flagged or your ads removed, and we appreciate the opportunity to help you resolve this.
To protect our community and ensure a safe marketplace, our security systems automatically flag accounts when session security cannot be verified. This usually happens when automated privacy tools mask your actual location. Because Kijiji relies on accurate location data to display your ads to the right local buyers, masking this information causes our system to default to deleting the ads to prevent potential fraud.
Common Tools That May Cause This Issue:

  • Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) or proxy software
  • Web browsers with built-in VPNs or extreme privacy modes (e.g., Brave Browser)
  • Mobile device settings like Apple’s “Private Relay” or private browsing location masks
  • Ad blockers, strict firewall rules, or pop-up blocking software
  • “Safe Browsing” features within certain antivirus programs
  • Outdated web browsers

Steps to Restore Your Access and Post Successfully:

  1. Disable Anonymizing Software: Turn off any active VPNs, proxies, or location-blocking extensions on your device.
  2. Check Auto-Reconnect: Ensure your VPN or privacy software does not have an “auto-reconnect” setting enabled, as this can silently re-engage the mask while you are browsing.
  3. Verify Your Location & Browser: Reset your browser’s location permissions to reflect your actual location and ensure your web browser is updated to the latest version.
  4. Log In Twice: Once your settings are adjusted, please log out and log back into your Kijiji account at least twice. This registers fresh, updated security logs on our system so we can verify the change.
  5. (Easiest Option) Try an Unrestricted Device: If possible, logging in from a device that does not have VPNs or heavy security software installed is often the quickest way to bypass these technical conflicts.

Once you have completed these steps and logged in twice, please reply directly to this message so our team can re-evaluate your account and help restore your access.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we work to keep Kijiji secure for everyone!

@Hassan

I have now solely used my Android Device with the app installed. No VPN or any “private” feature used/enabled. I have Logged in twice and now waiting for instructions.

every time i try to post an ad, i get a message saying ““an error has occurred, contact customer service”.”

Have attempted to post multiple times with no success, please help.

Hi, I have the same problem here. I confirm turning off location masking tool and re-login for three times but still cannot post listings. Please help me!

Hi @Kenneth

Just sent you a private message with more information regarding your account

Hello Hassan, I am hoping you can help me too. I have created a new account and it has been a while now. I keep trying to post my first ad but always get the “Contact Customer Service” message. I talked about it at great length with your chat assistant and tried many suggestions. Logging in twice, VPNs etc. Nothing seems to work. I am hoping you can help with this. Thank you.

I have been unable to post Kijiji ads ever since I acquired a new iPad and tried to change my email address at the same time. I have tried all troubleshooting methods and I am not very good with the computer or the iPhone so I’m having great difficulty. I am about to forget it. I’ve even tried to create new accounts and nothing works.

Hello Rob,

Wow! I think it worked this time! I had tried so many times. I had read and followed all the information about VPNs and security. I think the mistake I made was that I kept entering all the ad information and then receiving the failure message over and over again. This time I kept logging in and out without entering the ad information and then it suddenly allowed me to log in without sending the verification code. I took that as my cue, re-entered the ad information and it stayed!

Thanks for all your help,

Jason

With the method you are describing to fix this problem it is totally overwhelming and beyond my capability. Is there any possible way you could gain access to my iPad and do this? That is what apple support does. I’m grasping at straws here. Thankyou

So I just spent almost 2 hours with an Apple technician who took control of the screen on both of my Apple devices. We checked everything and reset everything as he read your previous email on how to rectify the situation. At the conclusion, he said with all the checks that we had done and verifications that it had to be a blockage on the Kijiji side. So could you please check and see if there is some impediment on my account from Kijiji. Possibly something was done in the beginning that either put a hold on or a block or whatever. Please check this and get back to me. Thank you so much,Gerry

I do see that the browser was properly updated, can you try again to login and post and see if you are able to access the account Gerry?
